ICK-OFF™ Helps Clear White Spot Disease
Ick or White Spot Disease is caused by the ciliated parasite, Ichthyopthirius multifilius. The disease is easily diagnosed by the appearance of small, white knots on fins, skin and eyes. The white knots are about the size of sugar grains (1/25" in size). Left untreated, the ick parasite easily reproduces and may infect the entire tank of fish. The ick parasite causes heavy damage to the fins and secondary infections may occur due to the "boring" mechanism the parasite uses to attach itself to the fish. This disease is usually caused by cold water conditions, direct infection from infected fish, from live foods or from infected water supplies. ICK-OFF™ is a green, granular formulation which:
- Clears Ick (Ichthyopthirius multifilius).
- Helps Guard Against Secondary Infections.
- Stimulates Antibacterial Static Slime Coat.
ICK-OFF™ is simple and effective to use in treating Ick by using one heaping tablespoon per 50 gallons of water. One cupful treats 400 gallons of water. Although one treatment is usually sufficient, a second treatment may be given after 24 hours once a 30% water change has been completed. On very weak fish or members of the skinfish groups of fish, use a half dose as follows: 1/4 dose followed by 1/4 dose in six hours. If necessary, repeat this procedure in 24 hours following a 30% water change. There is no need to adjust water temperature during treatment, however any activated carbon in the filtering system must be removed during treatment.
ICK-OFF™ should be used with caution, since this product may stain hands, clothing, silicon, plastic tanks or other components of the tank. |
